Improving Soil Quality Degradation and

Protecting Water Quality iin the

Wabash River Watershed


Huntington and Wells County Soil and Water Conservation Districts are partners on a CWI grant for the Upper Wabash River Watershed area.  The grant offers cost share for seeding cover crops and applying Gypsum.  (Landowners interested in applying Gypsum will need to provide soil test results warranting Gypsum application.)

Preference will be given to those using these Best Management Practices (BMPs) for the first time and those that are not eligible for cost share through other programs.


Cost-share for these practices are:

        - Cover Crops - $20 per acre with a maximum of 100 acres

        - Gypsum - $20 per acre with a maximum of 100 acres


We are also offering 1 free soil test to individuals who wish to have their gardens tested.  Cover crops for these gardens will be supplied free of charge if they wish to apply.
